The current Dearness Allowance (DA) rate is 55% of Basic Pay, effective January 1, 2026. DA is revised twice a year — January and July — based on the AICPI index.
HRA depends on your posting city category: X cities (Delhi, Mumbai, etc.) — 27% of Basic Pay; Y cities (Chandigarh, Jaipur, etc.) — 18%; Z cities (all others) — 9%.
NPS (National Pension Scheme) applies to all Central Government employees who joined after January 1, 2004. The employee contribution is 10% of Basic Pay, matched by the government at 14%. This contribution is shown as a deduction in your salary slip.
